This is a really awful thing to happen to anyone (especially innocent animals), but do you think that, if affluent whites were to experience extremely unnecessary Police Brutality more often, would more controls and strict regulations of actions by police be introduced and enforced?

I can get on both, I just googled the names.

No it’s about things like the Patriot Act, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, the local Police.

It’s about YOUR FBI record (you probably have one).

It’s about how your phone lines and computer can be under scrutiny because you know a Muslim and talk to them on the phone once or twice a year.

It’s because you went to a peace rally once and now they have you on their too be watched list.

It’s because you say nice things here about Muslims and Islamics. So now they want to find out why you’re a sympathiser.

It’s the McCarthy Era starting all over again.

Imagine not being able to get a job because the US Government call you in for questioning about your anti-American statements and friends and humanity beliefs.

True story. A friend of my mother’s husband took a plane trip and talked to the man in the seat next to him. Both were arrested by the FBI upon landing and the FBI held her husband for two days questioning him about his relationship with that man.

He never met the man before that plane right and was just shooting the breeze with him on a cross country 4 hour flight.

But that’s enough to get you arrested and these days if they think you’re a security risk they can lock you up in Guantanimo Bay for 3 years without ever giving you a lawyer or letting you make a phone call.

The law that gives them the right to do this is called the Patriot Act and it violates the US Constitution.

I am spending around six months travelling South East Asia from November 08. Have been watching the news and the footage of the current protests in Thailand has made a little uneasy. Do you think its safe to travel this region at the moment, and any areas to avoid?

I live in Phuket and agree with you, if your on holiday you really wouldn’t know that anything is going on.

By November hopfully everything will be cleared up, if not a lot of Thai people are going to be out of work because everyone is worried about Thailand "being safe". In answer to your question.at the moment it is perfectly safe for travelling in Thailand, but as in any country, you should keep away from local issues, and avoid going to areas where protests are taking place. Don’t do anything illegal, look after yourself and your belongings the same as you would anywhere else.

Have a good holiday.. and don’t forget to visit Phuket!
