What is the origin of the saying: "I don’t mind tyranny, as long as MY Party is doing it."?

Isn’t tyranny a bad thing, no matter which Party implements it?

Or is it just meant to be a sarcastic comment?

What does it mean?

I’m not familiar with that exact quote, but I think what you are referring to is when George W. Bush said,

"If this were a dictatorship, it’d be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I’m the dictator."

…and that’s a direct quote. Pretty much sums up his Fascist Regime and the Patriot Act, doesn’t it?
